Trumpeter 1/32 EA-18G Growler VAQ-141 Shadowhawks

May 17, 2017 · in Aviation · · 12 · 6.5K

Fellas,
just finished the 32 scale kit. I had to use the Steel Beach resin update that has all the fuselage humps and bumps of the Growler, as Trumpeter only gives you the wing tip ALQ-218 pods and the under wing ALQ-99 pods and calls it a Growler. Trumpeter does supply you with the correct ACS rear instrument panel. Finished OOB with the only exception being the update set and resin seats. Finished in Model Master enamels and a water color wash. Kit decals were used for VAQ-141 Shadowhawks.

  1. Nice...I love it.

  2. Andrew - you've done yourself proud. This is a beautiful model of an interesting variation of the FA-18 Super Hornet series of aircraft.

  3. Very nice Andrew! Good weathering - hard to make solid grey aircraft look appealing but you did a great job.

  4. I LIKE well done, must take some space up on the shelf.

  5. Excellent work. Is there anything that they won't adapt the F-18 airframe to do?

  6. Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeautiful Hornet Andrew !

The slight variations in color and other attention to details really make this one stand out. You nailed it buddy... Two thumbs up ! I really like this one.

  9. Thanks everyone for the compliments. I actually don't have it anymore, it was a commission build for a buddy of mine who I used to fly with. Glad it is done and off the bench. Yes, it did take up some space as it is pretty big when done.

Massive model. Excellent construction and weathering.
The F18 will have to soldier on for a long time to come.
