Felix rules, 1/72 F-2H-3 Banshee, VF-31

June 17, 2017 · in Aviation · · 15 Comments

This the Mcdonnell F-2H-3,in VF-31 livery circa 1953-56, I added a tail bumper and pitot tube and it kit bashed decals. I used MM aluminum plate metalizer rattle can for the paint. In this time period the Navy was experimenting with a clear coat finish over the bare aluminum. I don't think that was good for the corrosion problem that sea going aircraft are prone to. All I need now is a F9F Panther an F-14 to complete the Felix lineage. The -2 was used successfully in the Korean war . The F2H-3 was also used by Canadian Navy being armed with sidewinder missiles.

  1. Well ain't that the "cat's meow", huh...? Nice addition to the 'fleet', Robert 🙂

  2. You need an F9F-2 for their Korean deployment in 1950.

  3. Bob, just a pretty Banjo! Favorites from the nifty Fifties! I was a yuth and had hair! Nice family portrait of Navy Fighters, too. Hoping you score a Panther, and a Cougar to go with it. Hasegawas are the best of them, IMHO. I'm guessing you didn't use them Hobbycraft decals.
Where did the Felix badge come from? I like it! They the senior Navy fighter squadron now?
