Iljushin Il-76TD „Candid“ – Trumpeter 1/144
I saw many nice built Candids und Midas on this site, so I would also like to show my version. It´s a cargoairline from Azerbaijan names Silkway Airline. Decals are from TwoSixDecals and correctionset for engines and tailcone from Brazmodels.
Nice build...other than that greenhouse-lookin' bulge under the chin, looks like they copied (pretty much) the Lockheed C-141 Starlifter. Those Russians - always a day late and a dollar short in their design bureau. 🙂
Bjorn: I used to see Il-76 Candid's flying nearly everday in Afghanistan. Our camp in Herat was close to the end of the runway and aircraft taking off would bank around our camp as they departed, so I got to see the Candid low and slow.. Your model certainly looks like the beautiful Il-76. Great job!
The sound of an IL-76 must be fantastic. I have unfortunately unfortunately not experienced live.
The navigator has the best seat in the house here! I do like the early Russian jet and propliners with the glazed noses and the Il-76 fits right in . You did a fab job on it. Even in 1/144 it has to be fairly large, what are the dimensions of the completed kit?
I also think. But is also the first on the ground.
