Me262A-1a on tow with Kettenkraftrad.
1/48th scale Tamiya Me262A-1a & Kettenkraftrad
Red 13, 111/EJG 2 flown by Oberstleutnant Heinz Bar.
The only addition was etched seat belts.
Painted with Aeromaster & Tamiya Acrylics, & weathered with artist gouache.
Beautiful! The Schwalbe is outstanding as is the Kettenkraftrad. Great build, Julian!
Thank you Jeff.
This is one of my favourite aircraft, Julian and you've done a wonderful job on her. I think the paintwork is very authentic and brilliantly done; the Kettenkrad is gorgeous. Very, very well done, Julian.
Many thanks David, glad you like it.
I have never liked the look of the 262 but you have done a great job on this.
Thank you Anthony. Have I converted you?
I must admit I do like this one Julian.
Thank you Anthony.
Great job on a fantastic looking bird, and of course Tamiya nothing more to say, oh and the weird little motorbike thingy typical German over engineering when a simple tractor would have done ,wasting ever diminishing resources...
Great work, N.
Cheers Neil. Like you said, Tamiya says it all.
Julian, beautiful Swalbe! Not a criticism, but to tow the ME-262, there need to be addtional tow cables to the main landing gears. Read it someplace, otherwise the ketten kraftrad would pull the nose gear off. Has anyone seen photos of livestock towing MEs? Someplace I recall seeing a pair of oxen towing one. For the same reason, fuel was scarce, so they had to be towed out to the runway, rather than taxying. That symbolizes their situation, state of the art equipment, but at their last gasp, logistically.
IMHO this is sufficient to tow and would not tear out the nose gear.
Thank you Bernie, I believe your correct. I recall seeing a short video on YouTube. I think your also correct about livestock being used.
Great job on both!
Thanks Robert.
superb workmanship and photography Julian!
Hello Paul, thank you, much appreciated.
Fantastic work Julian ! I like both models ... You really seemed to nail the look of the fuselage mottling very well... The subtle camouflage on the Kettenkraftrad looks spot on too. Two thumbs up Sir !
Hi Louis, thank you very much. I built it a few years ago.
Very scale appropriate camo. Nicely done.
Thank you Mark. I used a template for the camouflage, which did make it rather more easy than it looks.
Very neat work as usual, Julian, especially the mottling. I expect the driver has gone to find someone to check if he needs tow ropes...
Hello George, hope your well. I think the reason is, I'm not that good at figures. ?
Now that right there's a nice-lookin' model...yes sir.
Why thank you sir. Much appreciated.
Julian, very nice work all around, even on the little tow rig !
Hi Terry, thanks. The Kettenkraftrad is a lovely little model on its own.
It's a beauty! Nice detail work. I always wanted one of those moto-tractors to play around on...!
Thank you Greg, glad you like it.
No need to convert me Julian. Just love 262s and this is a real beauty. I don't think those mottling templates are a 'walk in the park' either - expertly done. Enjoying the subtle weathering too.
Hello Paul, thank you. I've always liked 262. I think it looks shark like in appearance.
Very nice!
Thank you Tom.
I like this build very much Julian, great paint job, Love it. Nicely done.
Just had another look at the pictures, STUNNING.
Thank you very much Marc, I'm pleased you like it.
Not on the same level as your builds.
