Hello, I’ve been making models since the mid 1960s. It was mainly Airfix 1/72nd aircraft then. I have fond memories of the Airfix Spitfire, Hudson & B-17 to name but a few. I started work in 1971 and modelling took a back seat for a while. When I got married in the mid 1970s, I drifted back into making models. While still making Airfix kits, I also built some of the then new Matchbox kits. I thought Matchbox made some very unusual subjects, which I enjoyed building. When the kids came along, modelling was put aside one more time. But not for long, I soon started making models once again. This time I progressed to an airbrush and compressor. I mainly make 1/48th scale aircraft with an occasional armoured vehicle. Regards, Julian.

Meteor Prototype DG202

This is the Tamiya 1/48th scale Meteor F.1. I made this when it was first released 18 years ago (1997). It came in for a lot of criticism at the time because it had air brakes, and the Meteor F.1 had none. It transpired that Tamiya had based t[...]

27th September 1918 100 years ago today.

It was while making this model, back when it was first released by in 2014, that I learnt a relation of mine, Charles Edward Shawyer had been killed in 1918 whilst serving with the 11th Tank Battalion. After a search on the internet I came acro[...]

On The Bench Podcast.

I don't know if anyone on iModeler has heard of On The Bench Podcasts before. I discovered them on Hyperscale. It's a fortnightly Podcast which last for approximately an hour. So far there have been 28 Episodes all dedicated to the scale mode[...]

Tamiya, 1/72nd scale, Spitfire,

Hello gentlemen, I'm sorry that I've not contributed to iModeler recently. This is a Tamiya Spitfire I made a while back. Apart from the rigging (for which I used knitting elastane), It was made straight from the box. I finished the model with[...]
