P-40F 'Dammit',33 FG Operation Torch, Battle of Kasserine Pass
MPM's 1/72 P-40F ,I replaced the kit's vacuform canopy assy. with one from a hasegawa 'E' kit. Used kit decals of Dammit , one of the P-40's of the 33FG ferried to North Africa on the USS Chenango CVE-28,To take part in Operation Torch. Dec. 1942. Thanks to the expansion of the group build I thought that I might share this older build. except for the vacuform canopy ,of which my feeble hands can't content with, I think it's a great little kit.
Great build, Robert! Beautiful and tidy for a 72nd scale bird. Lovely kitty.
Very cool Robert ! I especially like how you presented the model along with some original photos ... Well done Sir !
Nice clean build, sir.
Very nice P-40, Robert.
Robert, this is fantastic. The transfer of the P-40s from the Chanango is one of my favorite subplots of the overall Kasserine Pass drama.
Nice work Robert, P 40's always look great in the desert scheme - the dupont equivalents give an little extra dimension to me.
Wonderful photos - it looks as though the Kittyhawks were catapulted off the forward deck - never heard of that before - fascinating!
I'm guessing the short deck of the CVE was the reason?
It must be, you can see the cat cables in the two photos.
Apparently they had 77 P 40's on board! You can see why there was no room for a take off run!
A really striking scheme, with lots of contrast, brilliantly executed - great work again, Robert!
Nice P-40 Robert - love all the different schemes worn on the WWII icon!
Good stuff. Nice wee P 40.
Nicely done Robert, looks good.
Very nice color scheme! Congrats and thanks for sharing!
Thanks guys
Interesting pictures bring your model to life.
