1/48 Tamiya P-47D-20 “Vonnie”

This is P-47D-20 with the markings of “Vonnie” 509 FS,504 FG flown by William McCrystal.
Standard Olive drab and Neutral Grey finish with red cowl, wing tips, tail bands and canopy trim.
Cockpit modified with instrument panel and seat belts.
Painting done with Gunze acrylics.
Resin wheels are from Ultracast
I have used Eagle Strike #48098 “American Jabos Pt.VII” decal set.

  3. Another Goldilocks build from the master.

    I wonder why the lower half of the cowling is painted Black? Is that for identification of the squadron or unit. Was it scabbed off of a night fighter or another squadron wreck?

      I have used Gunze H302 FS34092 which is very close to dark dull green.
      I have used this color for years on my P-47 project
