Tamiya, 1/72nd scale, Spitfire,
Hello gentlemen, I’m sorry that I’ve not contributed to iModeler recently. This is a Tamiya Spitfire I made a while back. Apart from the rigging (for which I used knitting elastane), It was made straight from the box. I finished the model with xtracrylix paints.

Very nice Spit Julian, could you specify what kind of knitting wire you used for the antenna and where to get it? Congrats and Cheers!

Thank you Michel. I used knitting elastane for the antenna, which can be purchased from a haberdashery/ wool/ sewing shop. I got mine from my local shop a few years ago as it lasts a long time.

Nice to see you back Julian, especially with a lovely clean Spitfire. I’m really enjoying this trend toward less weathering.

Hello David, thank you very much, it’s nice to be back. I didn’t want to overdo the weathering as its only 1/72nd.

Nicely done, Julian…and no worries about your recent “hiatus” (I think I may hold that record) – 🙁 Oh….and that detail on the underside is outstanding!

Thank you Craig. Tamiya made a good job detailing their Spitfire. The kit was first released in 2000 I believe.
