Monogram P-36A silver-wing
Hello, this is my first post on I-modeler.
I have just finished to assemble the “classic” P-36A Monogram kit in 1/72. Despite its age (half a century), it is a very nice kit and I decided to complete it OOB, without trying to re-scribe it.
Only minor scratch-build detail was added in the cockpit and minor corrections applied (the kit erroneously provides guns on the wings and an antenna mast, which were characteristic of the export – mainly French – versions of the Hawk).
Moreover, since I wanted to display the model in-flight, but this option is not contemplated in the kit, it required some epoxy-putty to shape the retracted gears. I painted it with MrP “white aluminum” and finished it with future and a little of black wash.
The decals in the box were yellowed (the kit is from a white box edition from the seventies)
therefore I preferred to paint the stripes on the rudder, whereas the Indian chief head was cannibalized from the recent AZ kit. I also utilized the roundels from a Techmod sheet and home-printed the black lettering.
Tough the kit provides a small stand I scratch-built a larger (and more stable) one.
Hope you like the model in its simplicity!

Great P-36, Peter! That’s a really nice job you’ve done. I wouldn’t have thought it was 1/72nd scale!

I have always been very fond of that little kit, and have a few in my collection to this day. You have done it justice with your very competent build. Nice to see one built so well and finished beautifully.

Hello peter,
Welcome to the club. Monogram, so old, but still belonging to the best designs.
Your model looks great. The Indian decal finishes it off. Regards, Dirk

Welcome here Peter! Nice build! I like Your stand also – if that’s from plexy You made an outstanding job with that!

köszönöm Gábor!
Yes, the vertical transparent stand is from plexy, whereas the base is a simple piece of wood painted with a “test” pattern. I’m still trying to find the most adequate pattern to be painted on such a base…
