Eduard’s 1/48 Hellcat Mk.II
Hi everybody, first post here with Eduard’s hellcat in 1/48.
Improvements were made to the rear landing leg, the machine gun barrels (hypodermic needle), the rocket cables and the exhaust. I also widened the wheels with plastic sheet as I read that they are narrow in the kit.
I intented to use this model mainly as a testbed for painting and weathering experimentation but it turned out to be one my best efforts...
The steps I followed for the external painting and finish were:
White vallejo primer where necessary, masked and the primed with black.
Sprayed chipping fluid
Intermediate blue
Chipping
Post shading and fading in various panels
Weathering with oils (burnt umber, ochre, black)
Gunze gloss varnish, decals, then varnish again
Exhaust and weapons stains
Pin wash with oils
Windsor & Newton Matt Varnish
Various fuel leaks, oil stains
Tonal differences with dry pastel
Scratches with silver and gray pencil
The antenna was done with EZ line.
Hope you like it!

Beautifully presented ‘Cat. Lots of subtle but important details, to me the key of making something look ‘real’ - kudos, George.
