Opel Blitz, Tamiya 1/48

March 31, 2019 · in Armor · · 2 · 3.8K

Being a recent re-starter in the hobby my main focus at the moment is Bf109's, but to add some interest to the planes I have started adding vehicles to my stash.

I do have some aftermarket items to make more detailed versions at a later date - Perhaps in due course some dioramas may follow, but that is still further down the road.

I just had to build a to gain some experience in building vehicles, and this one is OOB with the only modification being a drilled hole in the exhaust to get a more real look to that one. Colours are German Grey, Xtracolour Tyre Black, Humbrol 22 Matt White and Testors Fire red. The last two are from when I built models last some 30 years ago, and they are still useable.

I have only just started airbrushing, and has a lot to learn, but it seems like it just takes a lot of trial and error, and not least some rather useful comments on iModeler!

As an aviation freak, I wonder why the scales are not the same throughout the kit-world, when it comes to 1/48, 1/50 1/32 and 1/35... - I find that the nice little Tamiya kits of Vehicles in 1/48 are getting rather hard to find, and not many manufacturers make a lot in that scale. anyway, that just makes it so munch more fun to search for items I guess 🙂

  1. Nicely done Blitz. I too have started adding 1/48 scale vehicles to my aircraft dioramas.

2 weeks ago I ordered a 1/48 scale FORD 917-STEEL CAB SHELTER from a company called Wespe Models in Romania. They take 2 weeks before they cast the resin kits, so I'm still waiting to get it in the US. I can't vouch for the quality, but they have quite a variety in 1/48 and other scales.

I'll post my model when I get it and build it.

  2. 🙂 … Greetings … 🙂 :
Nice work on that Opel Blitz Erik.
