1/48 Tamiya Spitfire (new)
The new Spit Mk. I from Tamiya. External parts: XTRADECAL, Eduard Spit Mk.IX elevators, Uschi v.d. Rosten antenna wire and Eduard exhausts.
The RAF Dark Earth is way too light, I know, but that was my deliberate decision. The wiring is wrong. The lateral IFF wiring only appeared when the tip to tip wiring had been already deleted. beside modelling fun the purpose for this model was to try out an automotive 2component dull varnish (which proves out superior to any modelling stuff).
The build was straight forward, the only very minimal (!) putty was applied on the top cowling

Great build. If one knows how to work with automotive finishes, they’ll beat the scale model products every time.

Ok – those dropper-top bottles are something I’ve been looking for! Where did you find those?
By the way – great looking Spit!

I do like that finish, nice matt effect that looks pretty authentic to scale. Very nice work.
