Airfix Desert Spitfire IX 1/72
Hi iModelers:
I built a lot of models up to my teens, then abandoned the hobby for years. With my recent retirement, I've built a couple and hope to build a lot more. This is my first one (after a special car model I built as a present for my wife - will be in a future post).
It is the newer generation Airfix kit. Kit decals. Vacuform canopy from Squadron. EZ line aerial. Non-authentic cockpit sidewall bits from an Me-109 resin set.
Camo paints are Italeri (Dark Earth, Mid Stone, Azure Blue) airbrushed. Details various acrylics and enamels brush painted. Exhaust, oil, and gunpowder stains brush painted.
Excellent work - more so in that "small" scale... 🙂
Thanks Craig - you have a lot of nice work yourself.
See? It IS "like riding a bicycle." Very nice result with this.
Thank you Tom - always admired your builds over the years. You are one of the masters. Appreciate the support.
After so many years, it seems like you picked up where you left off. This is a great model, Aldo. I look forward to seeing many more.
Thank you Tony. Just took a look at your back catalogue and realized I remember noticing many of your fine builds.
Great looking Spitfire! Well done sir and welcome to the site.
Thank you Robert. I am amazed at the variety of subjects you have tackled!

Welcome to the forum, I trust you will have good times and friends here.
Nice looking Spitfire Aldo, specially when one considers the scale. Thank you for sharing the photos on this build.
Thanks for the kind words.
Welcome back to the fold! That's a good-looking Spit, and if you hang around this boisterous and keep building, they'll just keep looking better and better!
Thanks Greg.
You sure didn't forget anything, Aldo! Well done, Sir!
Thanks Jeff - seen a lot of your comments on iModeler over the years.

Thanks Allan - really like your black Catalina. Cheers.
