Hasegawa 1/48 Lend-Lease Supermarine Spitfire LF.IXe Soviet Airforce/PVO

December 15, 2019 · in Aviation · · 7 · 2.4K

Most probably the last new one by my dad for 2019.
Started with an ICM kit but switched to a Hasegawa kit with decals from AML, superfabric seatbelts from Eduard, painted with Gunze H306 FS36270 for the underside and Tamiya XF-82 RAF Ocean Gray 2 and XF-81 RAF Dark Green 2. Used darker shades of these colours to simulate freshly overpainted RAF roundels on the wings.

The model shows an aircraft of 26 GIAP PVS, Leningrad 1944-45.

  1. Great work, as usual!

  2. That "unfixably wrong" Hasegawa kit turned out pretty nice! Not a scheme you see often. We tend to forget the Soviets used about 1/3 of Spitfire IX production.

  3. Very neat looking Spitfire... You typically don't see models of them wearing Soviet colors. It would look really good sitting next to a similarly marked Hurricane... One thing in particular that I like about this build, is how the RAF wing roundels were over painted. Each time I see something new when I look at the photos...

  4. Fantastic - love the overpainting detail, and as mentioned already, nice to see the Spit wearing Russian insignia - something different.

  5. An original livery, very well executed !

  6. Very nice! The Spitfire is so beautiful that even with the ominous red star markings it still looks the part. Great finish!
