Supermarine Walrus Mk.II Airfix 1/72
Happy New Year.
I really love this ''ugly'' seaplane and have made it 3 times in my modeling life. The first one at the beginning of the 70's and recently two more times, all from the Airfix in 1/72 and 1/48. Here you see 1/72 which is the ancient kit that was first released in the 60's. It is a simple kit, like all of its time, but can with love and care stand with dignity next to modern kits.
Oldie but goldie :).
With little extra work you obtained a very good model, kudos!
I also like the color scheme, which enhances the particular shapes of this kind of aircraft.
Giannis, thats a work of art, and I like that you placed it next to the 48th scale version as well. Excellent modeling skills in bringing a base kit up to standard,. Love it!
Detailing gone wild! Absolutely incredible. Your detailing is creative and resourceful and you have the hand of a true craftsman. Excellent photos too. Thanks for sharing this build.
Great work on this old dog! I have this same kit to attempt to whip into shape - some nice ideas in your post here.
Truly - a silk purse from a sow's ear!
Fine work on that oldie!
All of the above ! Looks great.
All that work certainly paid off. I reckon most of these kits reside on the shelf of doom.
Terrific build on such an old kit, hard to believe that Supermarine gave us this and the Spitfire.
🙂 … Greetings … 🙂 :
Another Walrus and another great work Giannis, it just seems to call out " CLASSICAL " .
Well chosen paint scheme
Nicely detailed Giannis, colourful scheme, well done !
You really have done an excellent job with such an old kit. It's a credit to your modelling skills. Your Walrus looks superb.
Super work Giannis bringing this old kit to life!
Fantastic work. Really love the amount of details you managed to make. It's like you mentioned, if you give it time and attention its well worth the effort to update these older kits.
Well done Giannis, really superb job of updating a very old and simplistic kit.
Terrific work.
Thank you all very much for your kind words.
Hard to believe that's the old 1/72 Airfix kit, looks amazing. I like how you replicated much of the 1/48 kit interior on the 72nd model. Great job!
great work, i love sea planes too
Real men model...some great scratch building and rigging on this 1/72nd kit. Definitely, some strong work worthy of being a candidate for model of the month.
Two thumbs up Giannis
