SCRATCH BUILT No.4.

March 26, 2020 · in Aviation · · 4 · 1.6K

I blew up the first photo of a P-51D that was taken in WW-II (1941-1945). With my art talent I drew the "duck" which was fashioned after Walt Disney's movie cartoon character then had a decal made, which was put on my 2nd kit called "test model."

For the wheel well parts I was given permission to set under a restored P-51D at our local airport in San Jose, CA/USA. I spent several hours making a drawing and taking photos. My finished "wells" are about 97% accurate to the real airplane.

In the end, it took a few award's at model shows.

Enjoy...RJW

  1. I'm pretty sure The second world war started in September 1939...……..

    • "U-R" right on...for '39. but for America, the people of this country wanted no part of Europes' war as we had another of it with WW-I. We began sending war material to England from '39 to when we got into the whole war...first with Japan, then with Germany in early 1942.

When an American warship sank a 2 man Jap sub just out side the entrance of Pearl Harbor,(on/about the 5th/6th of December) the Japs then bombed our fleet on the 7th . America has never admitted that "WE" started the war with Japan.
I was a local "paper-boy" and I got to deliver the first paper of the bombing so I went around my paper route shouting out-loud at 11 pm: "EXTRA, EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT IT: JAPS BOMB PEARL HARBOR!"
Customer's ask: "Where in the hell is Pearl Harbor?" Remember that the Hawaiian Islands was just a place where we had a Naval/Army base.
I have a few more S/Built photos to send and remember this:
"IT'S CUT AND FIT UNTIL IT FITS!"...RJW...
