WW1 Tank dio “Ready for delivery”
Hi guys, this is a dio I put together after finding the picture in a book I have, at first I was just going to build it just as in the picture but I decided it needed the loco and the figures as well to bring it to life.
The Mk 1 tank and the Saddle tank loco are the ancient Airfix mouldings , the tank was found at a club day and the loco was found already built on Ebay , I had to take the loco apart as it was poorly built and start again cleaning the dried on glue off as I went ,fortunately it hadn’t been painted . There is an example of this loco in a museum here in the U.K. painted in green so rather than go for dull grey I decided to add a bit of colour , it has been commented that it is too clean but I don’t agree , I think the old time loco men would have taken a pride in there machines and kept them spotless I certainly would have . The wagon ,cobbled base ,track section ,ballast and figures were all sourced from various model railway outlets and painted up by me and finally I scratch built the loading ramp from balsa.
This is my favourite dio so far but probably won’t be my last……
Your comments as always are welcome. N.

Nice dio with an unusual theme. Like it.
Perhaps you might add a bit of wash to the paving-stones and may be a little bit of grass; That would give a little bit more of life to the dio.
I would have added a few rows of paving-stones in front of the ramp too.

Amazing work, Neil. I’m neither diorama, nor train, nor armor guy, but I love what I see. My sons
kept looking at it for quite some time with joy, pointing at the various details with exclamation!
All the best!
