Mustang Mk.III (Tamiya 1/48)
For several years I was holding this Tamiya's Mustang on my shelf waiting to be built. And finally, it's done. I found an interesting subject – an RAF unit but with a standard birdcage canopy plus invasion stripes.
Tamiya kit is a good kit, but comparing it to new ones, I have to say that the detail level should be improved. I was using a resin wheel bay, Yahu instrumental panel, Rexx exhausts, and some PE parts for the cockpit. But I'm happy that this kit doesn't have a trillion of rivets like modern ones.
Painted mostly with AK RC and Vallejo paints. For shading and weathering I was using oils.
Thanks for watching!
Great work on this Dmitry. One point I noticed is the propeller cuffs showing edge wear/ chipping. These cuffs were rubber and thus this would not be affected in this way. I did the same thing on a Mustang build and someone pointed it out to me so I thought I'd pass it on to you.
@dtravis Thanks for the hint Dale, didn't know that! Maybe the edge may have a different color (rubber black vs black paint), so that could be used for showing it in a "used condition".
Great build and interesting subject too. Thanks for sharing Dmitry.
@michel-verschuere Thanks Michel!
That's a dark and brooding Mustang. Lovely work.
@timtozer231 Thanks Tim!
As Tim said, that it's a great scheme! Not a seldom seem scheme, and it looks just right. Your paint work is excellent, and the AM perfectly make up for the kits deficiencies.
@pb_legend Thank you Andrew! Yes, there is a lot of AM parts for such a popular kit, so the real issue is to not buy too much of them 🙂
Beauty...love the weathering
@blackadder57 Thanks George!
Well done, Dmitry. Your colors look just right.
@j-healy Thank you John!

Excellent model, Dmitry. Tamiya Mustangs are great kits, and the extra parts plus your amazing skills resulted to to this astonishing model. I cannot stop looking!
All the best!
@fiveten Many thanks Spiros!
Beautiful! I love your paint work, it is stunning and is so much the type of finish I would love to have, but never seem to achieve. Even better on the Fastback Mustang, I like them better than the later models.
@luftwaffe-birdman Thank you!
Always good to see a fastback Mustang Dmitry - super weathering too - nice job!
@davem Thanks David!
Everything about this is beautiful - from the scheme to the execution! Excellent!
@gkittinger Thank you Greg!
