Box Scale Monogram B-26 Invader
Not a quick build as expected but it turned out nice. Nose weights added to keep her grounded. MM Non-Buffing Aluminum and Sealer (I like that stuff). Strictly out of the box and amazingly the old kit decals survived with a bit of help. Hope you like it. These oldies are fun to build.
That's the only Monogram Real Old Oldie that stands up. I can remember making it new when I was still in elementary school.
Thanks Tom! Much appreciated.
Very nicely done.
Thanks very much Haslam. I appreciate your comment.
Hello Clark...That's a trip back down memory lane 'Lil Nell'. So good to see some of the old vintage kits come back to life after all these years. Nice job on a classic ole bird.
Hello Jim. I sure appreciate your comments. I definitely preserved the football size rivets.
Wow! That’s really cool. My uncle flew those in Korea and he gave me that kit and an even older Monogram Speedee Built balsa/plastic B-26. Great memories.
Great story John. Thanks for sharing. Ahhhh Speedee Builts. I have a few of those in the stash.
Well done, Clark.
That's a really nice model!
I love, too, building oldies!
Thank you Spiros.
Very nice looking Invader, Clark.
A well done oldie.
Much appreciated John. Thank you.
Excuse my ignorance, but what the heck is "Box Scale"?
Nicely done, by the way.
Box scale. In the early days of model production the scales weren't standardized yet like [1/72,1/48.1/32 etc] So basically they would scale the kit to fit their boxes. that's why you have odd scales like 1/77 and such.
Robert did a great job answering your ? Thanks.
An oldie but a goodie!
Great job on that Invader Clark.
Hello George. I appreciate the thumbs up.
Yep - I enjoy bringing a touch of "love" to old kits! Very nicely done.
Hello Greg…..much appreciated. Next up is a Monogram AT-6 but then the door swings open for another oldie. Hmmmmm?
Nice work! What about the companion box scaled Monogram B-25?
Hello Robert, I've built the kit in the way back years. You can find them and perhaps Atlantis will reissue it like they did the Catalina.
Built that when I was 12 in 1975. Good memories. Thanks tor sharing!
You are very welcome Jim--good memories for sure.
Nice, great job on your build. I build this one too and the B-25. To this day I still like the way they look.
Thanks Bob-best regards!
Nicely done Clark! My Dad was a crew chief on Invaders in the great way before now.
I’m with Tom Cleaver on this kit holding up after nearly 70 years. To my eye it’s the only kit that truly captures the lean lethal look of the Invader.
Hello Rick, she has “the look” okay. I chose not to sand off all of the iconic rivets and not work on filling all of the gaps. I would not have done that years ago. Just pure fun.
