RAAF Spitfire Mk.Vc, 54 Squadron, Darwin, Australia.

's kit was the only one of this mark available until very recently, when Eduard announced their forthcoming kit. I had already ordered the SH one & since all my previous efforts at a Vc had been kitbashed by various means, I decided to press on & see how it turned out. My previous efforts with this kit had not been happy ones, so I was gratified to find that my problems were minimal & easily overcome. Decals, fit, panel lines & shape were all good. There's plenty of room for the Eduard offering in due course & I look forward to that, but in the meantime I've enjoyed this build, which is what counts.

  1. This is a truly wonderful result, Tony, a great looking "Vc"!
The fact that it is an SH kit, makes your effort even more respectable!
Nice airbrushing skills, love the camo borders, they look just "right", not too hard, not too soft.
    Congratulations on this amazing model!

    • Thanks Spiros. Despite my initial doubts, I bought it because it was cheap & I'd just bought a new airbrush to try out. The kit arrived the same day I found out about the new Eduard kit!

  2. Nice work on this PITA kit. Great result.

You're gonna love the Eduard kit. Well worth picking up the double combo.

    • Thanks Tom. I'm really looking forward to the new release. I'd thought that Airfix might have been bringing one out in 1/48, but looks like they missed an opportunity.

  3. Lots of compliments on thisbuild, Tony @tony-prince
The amount of work you put into this kit clearly paid of.

    • Thanks John. It was more fun than I thought it would be, but an Eduard kit is on its way, so I'm impatient to do another Vc, but maybe from Malta this time.

  4. Thanks John. Glad you like it.

  5. Great looking Aussie spit.

  6. Ditto from me, Tony (@tony-prince). Truly well done. I just finished a Special Hobby kit, so I appreciate your results.

  7. A great looking Aussie Spit!

  8. Very nice! I need an Aussie Spit in 1/72...

    • Thanks Greg. There's a nice looking Vc recently released by Airfix in 1/72 which looks good. Haven't seen one myself, but judging by their 1/48 kits it should be worth building.
