Amodel's 1/72 IAR-80C Kit No. 72168 (2009 release)
IAR-80c no. 279, Escadrila 45 Vanatoare, Targsor, Aug, 1943.
The IAR 80 was a Romanian World War II low-wing monoplane, all-metal monocoque fighter and ground-attack aircraft. When it first flew, in 1939, it was comparable to contemporary designs being deployed by the air forces of the most advanced military powers such as the Hawker Hurricane and Bf 109E. Production problems and lack of available armament delayed entry of the IAR 80 into service until 1941. It remained in frontline use until May 1945.
This is a short run kit with pretty decent decals. It looks good in the box and the end result is a very nice looking and, in my eyes, an accurate kit of the IAR-80. This was not exactly an easy build but it was not a terrible one, I used my files to make many parts fit correctly but the details are very fine and looks very nice when done.
This is my first IAR-80 and I am pretty happy with it and looks nice next to the other builds. This plane looks like a hot rod.
