1/48 Hasegawa F-104 J
Another LHS find acquired cheap. The kit came with Japanese markings but I decided to use mid-sixties USAF decals on it...probably not accurate but I'll lose no sleep over it.
An easy, very well fitting kit to assemble I did it OOB which provided sufficent detail to satistfy me. After primer I sprayed Model Masters gloss black acrylic overall and after a couple days to cure completely sprayed it with two coats of Alcad II polished aluminum. Alcad II acrylic clear coat was sprayed after three days since decal setting solution will supposedly attack and damage Alcad paint and this would have annoyed me to no end.
I'm pretty pleased with the shiny thing

Mark
Amazing job on this Mark, you got the finish spot on.
An amazing model out of the good Hasegawa kit, Mark!
Cannot tell about the markings accuracy, but surely love them!
Nice Job Mark @markh on this Starfighter. The aluminum paint is fantastic. Thanks for sharing
Nice work on this. Great NMF. Iām still a fan of that kit. They can be found at decent prices and are not really inferior to the Kinetic kit.
You should be pleased @markh; that's a great looking Zipper! Has any aircraft ever had a cooler name than Starfighter?!? ? ?
Many thanks gentlemen
I cannot sing praise to Alcad paint enough. It's easy to work with, all a guy has to do is follow the manufacturer's directions and presto. The only drawback to the stuff is that it's lacquer based and therefore smelly but a good paintbooth/exhaust fan minimizes this.
A beautiful Starfighter, Mark @markh
Nice!
Nice job on your build! It looks great in this silver scheme.
Thanks guys
That's a nice clean build - well done.
Thank you sir
Awesome Mark - such a nice finish on the metal and your cockpit details are fantastic.
Thanks Anthony
The cockpit is 100% OOB; Hasegawa gives you good stuff to work with
