1:48 Scale Focke-Wulf Fw-190D-9.

Markings are those of Oblt. Hans Dortenmann, who was the highest scoring German pilot while flying the 'Dora'. He was in command of 3/JG26 and flew this aircraft from April 1944 till the war ended.

The kit itself is not a bad little kit. It went together quite well. Detail is nice and everything lined up without too much fuss.Very little seam work was needed, which made me a VERY happy boy!

I did try a few new things with this kit. The model is built straight from the box, sans decals, which are from Eagle Editions. Nothing wrong with the kit's, I just liked these aftermarket stuff and I built the model as part of the Jerry Crandall GB here. They were great and responded well with Micro Set/Sol backed up with a little Walther's Solvaset. For the weathering I used MIG weathering pencils, thinned oils, pastel chalks, and I found this stuff from the UK, Floury Washes. Stuff is fabulous!

Anyway, nice kit and a decent build, good bang for the buck, and I recommend it.

I like colours and camouflage work very much
    Regards Djordje

  3. Looks really good! Makes me want to try my hand at a German aircraft. Camo is a little intimidating but you knocked it out of the park and your comments on the kit make me want to buy one and try it!

  4. I say, "Go for it, Dave"

  5. Personally, I think the HB Dora-9 is the best 1/48 kit of this airplane out there - more accurate detail than the Dragon/Italerei, and less "finicky" than Eduard's.

You've done a really nice job on this Freddie, and it looks great.

These 1/48 scale Hobby Boss Focke Wulf kits are very good, and you have brought out the best. The paint work is spot on, and it looks magnificent.

I definitely checked the "like" button.

Thanks for sharing this with us. 🙂

  7. Excellent performance on this Dora, Frederick @fjs3
