Tamiya 1/35 M-51

September 8, 2022 · in Armor · · 7 · 1K

A few months ago, while visiting family in Joliet and Chicago I paid a visit to Walt's Hobby Shop in Joliet, another really great hobby shop with tons of models and train stuff. I picked up the M-51 kit because many years ago I built an M51 by kit bashing together Tamiya and Italeri kits which required scratch building the barrel and muzzle brake and the additional counterweight at the turret's rear. Building the Tamiya kit was an easier project.

As with many Tamiya kits, it was fun easy build with only a few mods needed. The fuel can racks at the back corners needed some slight extensions to let the racks meet the hull without tilting them. I added clamps to hold the ends of the tow cable in place and added the other half of the concertina holder to the glacius plate. I also through some stowage to the rear deck.
