1/72 Arma Hobby P-51B Mustang. 3 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force. Fano, Italy 1945
Hi all.
There's not much to say about this kit other than it was an enjoyable build. I've read a few articles and seen a few build/review videos and I don't know what the issue was were that folks found. This thing fell together with the only care being taken on the clean up of the sprue points. A few additional items in the way of Eduard exhausts and SBS Model block tread tires. An included set of resin tires for the RAAF option from Arma Hobby would have been a welcome addition as the build was held up for a week while wating for them. Paints are Mr Color lacquers along with a stack of others including oils, pigments and a few acrylics for the interior. I'd build another one for sure.
Bancroft the bench mascot for scale.
Cheers,
Mick
1/72? Amazing job on this, you have to take other people’s’ comments on kits with a generous pinch of salt.
It certainly is George. A pinch of salt is a fair comment however review builds, if done well, can offer some good information on pitfalls and problems.
That's superb Michael. Great build, nice subject too. The Arma kits look so good in the box. I am looking forward to building the Eduard boxing of Armas Hurricanes . Nice one Michael 👍
Thanks Guy. I'd like to try their Hurricane next though not quite sure which one to get there are so many choices.
Amazing job indeed, Michael!
Congratulations!
Thanks Spiros. They are a lovely kit to build. You'd think they were an Eduard or Tamiya Mustang in 48th scale with the amount and fidelity of the detail.
You must be fooling us with the size, Michael @mickdrover
The painting and detail levels are so great that it looks like a much bigger scale.
A truly beautiful one.
I don't fool about size John!
Glad you like it though. It's an absolute gem to build.
I do understand you didn't fool it @mickdrover
The results are just that good.
Amazing Job with my fav P-51B! How about decals quality?
Paintjob are great!
Thanks Lis. The decals are excellent. I had no issues with them and they reacted well to Mr Hobby Setting and Softener solutions.
Mick
Michael,
What a Jewel this build of yours turned out to be. I've got a kit on the bench and this kit has more details than a 1/48 scale Mustang. Has more options with the tail arrangement, bombs, drop tanks , intake covers, seats and decals. This kit is a buffet of some tasty options and plastic that screams Mustang . Your gifts and talents have proven that.
Two thumbs up.
Thanks for those kind words Stephen. I agree, the amount of details and options provided in the kit are second to none. Buffett is certainly a good word to use. I'd like to build a few more of their kits. One of their Hurricanes and perhaps a Yak-1 would be on the list.
Cheers,
Mick
That’s an amazing job! I’m inspired! I may move the one I have to the front of the line.
I'm currently building 3 P-51B in 1/72.
1 the old Hasegawa kit (I know, not very correct and all)n which I will be doing in flight, 1 KP (which was the best kit until Arma Hobby released theirs) that I will be doing with a Malcolm style canopy, and 1 Arma Hobby that I will be doing the Evalina version.
Yours looks very well executed and the weathering is close to the photos I've seen of this bird. Very well done mate.
Thanks Paulo. That sounds like a nice collections of Mustangs; I'll keep an eye out for them. I didn't realise KP did the B version.
Cheers,
Mick
Very nice build. Really like the faded camo you created, Mick @mickdrover. Is that one of those LEGO Minecraft guys? Nice touch.
Can’t wait to try an Arma Hobby kit but I’m holding out for their forthcoming 1/48 Hurricane.
Thanks Eric. The Bancroft the LEGO guy is a fella I put together when my family and I visited the local LEGO store. The kids were keen to put explorer and ninja types together but I wanted something a bit more...refined! He's a good scale reference.
I agree about their 48th Hurricane. I think it will be one to get.
Cheers,
Mick
Looks excellent - love the paint and weathering work! I'm building the Arma Hobby Sea Hurrican now, and other than cleaning up flash and sprue nibs, it is a very nice kit.
Cheers Greg. I do like the Sea Hurricane colours. The sprue attachments points are annoying and care is needed when cleaning up but other than that it's a nice kit.
Cheers,
Mick
Nicely done! great job on the weathering
Thanks Robert.
