AMT Havoc In Flight
This is the AMT A-20G Havoc in 1/48th scale that I completed a couple of months ago. I have a build thread in the Pacific Theater group with details of the build so I will limit the article here and photos to just enough to point you to that group thread. It was a fun build that I got to try many new techniques on and improve my skills.
This is awesome! I was looking in the picture for how it was suspended over the water until I remembered looking through the build blog and seeing how you did it there. Both the build of the Havoc itself and the ingenuity you put into to pulling this off are incredible. Well done!
Really fabulous tromp d’oeil effect! Kudos!
Very cool approach to a diorama. The plex is invisible.
Very interesting way of creating the display, and the model looks very realistic.
A fantastic diorama, Carl! An equally fantastic build thread! Your techniques are awesome, creating very realistic results.
Congratulations!
Very impressive diorama, Carl @clipper
Your thread explaining how you all achieved this is very interesting and learningful.
Well done.
Beautiful build and a very creative way to display it. Love your paint work on this kit, it turned out beautifully.
Great-looking Havoc, and cool way to put her in flight! Well done.
Thank you everyone for the nice comments. I'm glad I could share the build with you all. The kit build and display represent all that I have been able to learn so far from other people sharing their work in the various online forums, YouTube, and so on. So I am very thankful for that as I have wanted for years to get better at building, but for various reasons could never consistently keep up with it. The beauty of the Web is this ability to share ideas and work which helps others to be inspired and build off of these ideas. So my thanks to all of you for your contributions over the years.
Beautifully done, very realistically displayed. Plus great job on the A-20 build, and the painting/finish looks spot on!
Very convincing display, Bob, you are right to be pleased with the result.
Nice looking design to display your build
Great and inspiring idea, beautifully realised and photographed! I love it when someone so successfully invests ingenuity and craftsmanship to position an aircraft where it belongs: in the air and in flight! Great representation of the spinning propellers, congratulations on this unique display!
