Cenepa War...1/48 Embraer EMB-312 Tucano, Fuerza Aérea del Perú
8/2023
My dad finished another Latin American subject.
Hobby Boss kit built OOB. As usual, HB has some accuracy issues, for example they mixed up the landing gear with their EMB-314 kit. Did a minor correction to the outer main landing gear doors and replaced the two small landing light with a single larger one. Also cut apart the rear front wheel well door to display it open. The wheels are incorrect and the FN Herstal cal .50 gun pods are undersized. Sadly there are no aftermarket parts for the pods and don´t know of another kit that includes these. Didn´t find pics of Peruvian Tucanos carrying any other ordnance. PE seatbelts come with the kit.
Painted with AK RC FS30219, FS34079 and FS34102 and Tamiya Black. Whip antenna done with a piece of plastic rod.

The Cenepa War is one of those "forgotten" wars and one of several between Peru and Ecuador. It lasted from Jan 26th to Feb 28th 1995 and was a conflict over the control of the Cenepa River Valley on Peruvian territory near the border of the two countries.
Peru ordered 20 Tucanos in 1986, delivery began in 1987. They serve with Grupo Aérea 51, the FAP training wing. They are fully weapons capable and were/are used also for COIN missions. Shortly before the Cenepa War, SEMAN (Peruvian aircraft manufacturer) had carried out maintenance work on the Tucanos. They were mostly used for night missions, therefore their light grey undersurface was overpainted with black.
Excellent model! Since I don’t have any knowledge about the plane or ordinance it looks terrific as it is. I like these “exotic” liveries, and SA sure is a bit forgotten in the model world
Truly amazing result, Reinhard @grimreaper
Peruvian schemes are not that often modelled nor this aircraft.
Loved it to follow your thread and see this aircraft taken shape.
Very colorful and excellent build as usual from your dad.
Fantastic result and an equally fantastic, detailed build thread.
All as usual.
Well done, Spreitzhofer Family!
It looks great.
Superb work.
Despite the inaccuracies, the HB 312 Tucano builds up to a very attractive plane. Yours is no exception. Beautiful conclusion.
Note that the 312 variant has a three bladed prop whereas the 314 has five.
“Liked” very much.
Lovely build. Beautiful livery.
Those inaccuracies certainly does not detract from a beautifully built model. It seems that Hobbyboss always gets so close to an accurate kit but blows it in some stupid way. The thing is that most Hobbyboss kit that I have built have great surface detail and good fit.
That is a real beauty! Love the Latin/South American aircraft and schemes.
