35 - 1/48 Italeri EA-6B Prowler

Wow what an amazing Kit. I absolutely loved this and the camo scheme.

The kit went together great - the only part that needed a bit of work was the underbelly.

Stated like most kits with the Cockpit and if you have the chance to get aftermarket - DONT. Amazing detail in here. The only thing I needed to add in here were seatbelts.

Got in some serious nose weight an closed it up. Painted the internal bits red and white and closed them up for priming and colour. I love black basing and being a desert bird she would look good with some faded mottled colouring. So went on painting away.

The 3 tone, hard edge camo was a really tough part of this, the precision and masking needed and to keep remembering what colour went where, but I had a lot of fun coving it up.

Once paint was done it was time for all the fiddly bits, gear, ordnance etc, and got those painted and weathered up nicely and all the decals on.

Then finally decals weathering and getting it all together and done. What a beauty of a plane, I was extremely happy with how it came out.

I hope you enjoy the final photos.

    • Thanks George @chinesegeorge, I'm trying to keep this as a log for my new builds but have to try access the memory banks with these older ones haha, glad you enjoy it - I'm almost up to date.
Thanks for the awesome comments on the prowler.

  7. Waaw. Looks amazing Anthony. Too bad the plane left the inventory of capable aircraft.
Sometimes I wish I would not put models together in 1/72 only ! At any rate it would be hard to match the quality of your work in any scale.

  8. @anthonyricco - Fantastic work Anthony! The detailing, painting and weathering are all great. I really like all the detail in the open wing... that's all part of the base kit?

    • Thanks Brian @brithebuilder, really appreciate the comment, yes the wing fold is out the box, apart from one part that I lost and replaced with something else. The whole kit is out the box - apart from the seatbelts.

  9. Wow,Anthony @anthonyricco. That is some seriously impressive work. The cockpit is amazing. Your photography and text graphic is right on the money. Standing ovation!

  21. Amazing build, Rico!
Love the detailed cockpit. Another masterpiece.
BTW, what are the seatbelts made from?

    • Thanks a lot Alfred, really appreciate the comment - the seatbelts are made from the foil inside a chocolate. The specific chocolate isFerrero Pocket Coffee - works brilliantly - and tastes fantastic.

  22. Great job, Anthony. I have to say I really like your weathering technique with black-basing and pre-shade for a marbled effect. The wear on paint from desert conditions is much on my mind as I return to my Desert Air War builds like the all RLM-70 (top side) Bf-110. It's an art to break up the uniform look of one and two color camo schemes. You have nailed it. The rest of the build is also impressive, given the details in the cockpit and carefully constructed and painted wingfold - your best yet IMO.

    • Hi Colin, thanks so much, yeah I think it's my best so far as well. Yes the black basing and marbling really works to break up the monotony of the colour and give it a faded, weathered look in my opinion. You should try it out, it's really my favourite technique, if you need any tips or advice please let me know and I can run you through it.

  23. That is some phenomenal modeling, love the cockpit detail work and awesome desert paint job using marbling and layered approach. It turned out excellent, Anthony!

  24. That's a cracker Anthony...well done!

  25. Fantastic work, 3 thumbs up!
