AMT Nascar Kodak Chevy Lumina SnapFast 1/32 scale

Hello to all the model builder's here at iModeler. This is my first post so I thought I would begin by showing my older built-up models first. Pictured is the first model that I can remember completing in the early 1990's. It was painted with a spray can and I'm sure I used tube glue even though it's a snap kit. Some of you may remember that Testors had a line of spray paints which were color specific for certain racecars. Well, this is their Yellow for the #4 car driven by Ernie Irvan / Sterling Marlin. I look forward to spending many hours here at iModeler, whether it's posting pictures or commenting on someone else's build. Please check out my "About Me" to learn more about me and feel free to leave a comment. Thanks.

  1. Nice work! I built a bunch of those with my son back in the ‘90s. I need to build a car again.

  2. @jdtruby - Nice work John. It's great that you still have kits you built 30 years ago.

  3. Great looking NASCAR racer, John, welcome to iModeler.

    • Thank you George,

In just the short amount of time I've been a member here, everyone seems so nice, so welcoming, so helpful and truly genuine. This is, by far, the best model forum I've been witness to.

  4. A wonderful result and a very striking scheme, John! Welcome aboard!

  5. Welcome to this great community, John @jdtruby
Glad you were able to repost the article including the images this time because the Kodak scheme on this car looks amazing.
    Well done.

  6. Great work on that car, John @jdtruby! 👍 It does look really good! Man, I haven't built a car model in many years; the last one was Monogram's 1/24 Bugatti Type 35, built around 1976 I'd guess. My toddler daughter tried to play with it around 1982 and that was the end of that one. 😉 I do have another of those kits and lately have been thinking of taking it on again. I would also love to finish one of the several kits of Mickey Thompson's Challenger that lurk in the stash, but detailing four Pontiac V-8s sounds pretty daunting.

Back in the late '60s, I built several funny cars with tube chassis of Pik Up Stiks, and cardstock "aluminum" cockpits, all with hinged bodies. Very little of those projects survive now.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your race cars, John! Welcome to iModeler and keep 'em comin'! 😁

  7. Nicely done John, Testors had a whole range of paints, Rustoleum killed I all.

  8. I agree. Rustoleum didn't help Testors cause one bit.

  9. Yes, I also lament the passing of the entire ModelMaster line; I used a bunch of their enamels and acrylic clear finishes. 😢
