Born in 1955, I have lived on Chicago's far southeast side all of my life. I married my beautiful wife, Barbara, in 1989, and have two adult daughters and no grandchildren. I never built plastic models as a young boy, but I was always attracted to completed model builds on display at a local hobby shop or perusing the model kit aisle at the local Ben Franklin variety store in our neighborhood. I didn't start building models until the early 1990's, and I consider myself to be a "car guy" at heart. Race cars are my favorite subject such as Nascar, Indy, and drag racing. I also enjoy muscle cars of the 60's and 70's, Corvettes and hot rods. Recently though, I have kind of switched gears on models that I enjoy building. (and yes, that was a pun). I have built two military planes so far, and have two more currently under construction, all in 1/72 scale. I credit my fascination with all things World War II for this change in my building habits. For the future, I want to build this 1/400 scale Heller kit of a German destroyer that I have in my collection. My other interests include reading (the Gabriel Allon series by Daniel Silva) and doing easy online crossword puzzles and 400 pc. jigsaw puzzles (of course, automotive and airplanes!). I don't know what the future holds for me, but I intend to enjoy the time I have left on planet Earth, and taking life one day at a time.
