Hasegawa 1/48 RF-4E Phantom II 'Sea Camouflage'

October 5, 2023 · in Aviation · · 30 · 501

A perfect basic color combination that adorns Japan's sea reconnaissance Phantoms.

's boxing of the original F version is more difficult to build due to the changes made in the nose area. Much more test fitting is required if you wish to avoid using putty.

  1. Amazing end result. I imagine the most time-consuming part of the entire build was applying all of those stencils!

  2. Great looking Phantom, Rafi @blackmopane
This Japanese sea camouflage scheme looks very good.
    Well done.

  3. Well, that looks different! That "sea scheme" looks really nice on the F-4. Good work.

  4. Another excellent build, Rafi!
The Japan Sea Scheme is really eye-catching and you have replicated it perfectly!

  5. What a fine looking plane, the colour scheme is really eye-catching. Congratulations!

  6. Love this and man I love Japanese Phantoms. I was lucky enough to see several during a fuel stop on Iwo Jima when I was in CODs. They are just immaculate. You really captured that, all JASDF and JMSDF birds that I saw both when I was stationed at NAF Atsugi and later when I happened to be lucky enough to encounter them were always just so clean and well maintained, just a bit of operational grime. Great job!

  7. Particularly good looking Phantom, Rafi.

  8. Nice work, Rafi. That's a great scheme.

  9. Ravi, how do you manage to build so many models so quickly? It seems you’ve posted 5 or so on here in the last six months and I have yet to finish one! I am very envious. Well done on your RF-4E!

    • Thank you Dan!
Most of my posts here are old builds. I enjoy reconnecting to the build through sharing the photos here. It also gives a chance to correct mistakes and improve the models.

  10. Phantastic results Rafi! Love the unique scheme.

  11. Very nice job.Yeah the blue birds of the JASDF are always eye catching.

Need to build a blue Eiko using the Eduard boxing of the Hasegawa kit. Along with the Hasegawa F-2B.

  12. A Phabulous Photo Phantom! Great paint scheme.

  13. Japanese camo scheme is so different, you have to like it. Very nice build, well done.

  14. I'm not much of a Jet guy, but that Phantom is a real eye-catcher - love the paintwork!

  15. A real beauty! I love Phantoms, and the Japanese spooks come in so many nice liveries - this ocean blue scheme is one of my favorites.
