McDonnell Douglas Phantom II F-4D, Tamiya 1/32
Old Vietnam veteran from 435th Tactical Fighter Squadron (1966 - 1974) (Tail Code: FO), 8th Tactical Fighter Wing.
Tamiya released kit (60305) in 1995, so it's quite old (and huge in this scale). Kit was completed in year 2022.
Painted with Vallejo Model Air acrylics, USAF Vietnam War Scheme to be specific. Weathering with AK, Mig, Tamiya, Vallejo and Abteilung products. Aftermarket parts used from Quick Boost (Intake covers QB 32089), Eduard seat belts + Remove Before Flight -stripes and Red Fox Studio's cockpit detailing set. I also tested post shading for panel lines with this kit.
Kit has some problems, for example the air intake trunks have large and visible seams inside each of the two intakes. In order to hide these, I decided to purchase Quick Boost intake covers. Those were quite expensive, I have to say, but did the trick. It also lacks some detailing, and also quite a lot of stencils are are not included in the box, and those which were delivered with the kit, were prone to silvering, as you might see.
The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is the second most successful western jet fighter aircraft ever made (the F-86 Sabre being number one) with over 5,000 units build. See additional info below.

@jp - Fantastic build Jarmo. The detailing looks incredible!
Thanks Brian.
Thats an impressive looking Phantom, Jarmo @jp
Details and paintwork are beautiful.
Where are those 'remove before flight'labels made from?
Thanks John. Those tags are made of some kind of elastic plastic material. Bit sticky, like a plastic wrap.
Amazing job, Jarmo! Painting and weathering are second to none! Great idea to use aftermarket intakes.
Congratulations!
Great looking Phantom, Jarmo @jp! ๐ A truly "beautiful brute"! ๐
Thanks Spiros and Gary.
Amazing work!
That is a museum quality build. Thanks for sharing.
Looks awesome! I love F4s in camo. I was a helicopter engine macanic in the Army National Guard and often had opertunitys to go on nickel rides in back seat of the F4s that the Air Force operated across the runway from us. Unfortunately I never took that opportunity as I was always busy working on something when occasion arrose. Duty first i guess! Probably one of my only regrets in the military.
The paint finish and weathering are absolutely top notch.
Thatโs a beautiful Phantom.
Great looking Phantom.
Nice job, Jarmo...your Phantom is amazing!
Thank you all. I really appreciate your comments.
Nice work!
Thank you John.
I'm a HUGH Phantom fan (over 60 in my stash and collection), so really love this build. Great job on the paint and weathering!
Thanks Greg. Phantom is one of my favorites too.
