Airco DH. 5, 1:48. Fenix, flown Cpt. Roy Williams, 41 Sqn. RFC
I've got a few models to finish, but until that's done I'm going to keep showing the planes I've built over the last year since I got back into modeling. DH. 5 from Fénix looks very good at first glance. Unfortunately, the very detailed engine does not fit into the ring of the engine cover, both in length and in width. A new engine needs to be made. The instructions are very simplified to the point of being misleading. There is a lot of detail to adjust and finish and a lot of putty to fill. The decals are very difficult to remove from the backing paper and fall into lots of pieces almost immediately. I had to paint the tricolor on the rudder by hand and also repair all the highness signs by hand. I would say that it is quite a demanding model, but I think that despite all that, you can build a fairly passable model from it.
Unfortunately, I could not find anything about the pilot of this plane.
Thank you for watching.
Excellent result Milan.
Thank you Rafi.
That looks and sounds like a difficult model to build. You did outstanding work on it, it looks great.
Thank you Jay.
Nicely done, Milan
Thank you Gary.
Well done, it looks like you won that battle! Unique and different, haven't seen one of those built before.
Thank you Chas.
Very sharp work. The reverse stagger wing sure catches the eye
Thank you Dale.
Excellent result out of the challenging Fenix kit, Milan!
You tackled all challenges in a most effective manner.
Congratulations!
Thank you Spiros.
🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
An attractive and very clean build Milan, it seems to be of museum quality.
Despite all the slight challenges in this project, you have overcome them, great
modeling Milan.
Thank you.
Haven't seen one of these done in a very long time - you've gotten an excellent result from what sounds like it was a so-so kit.
Thank you Tom.
Witha all the difficulties you mentioned, you still pulled off a beautiful build Malin. The wing arrangement reminds me of the Beechctaft Staggerwing. Definitely a better view forward and up, but anything approaching from your upper 6 is blocked. I guess they were still trying any arrangement in thoes days.
Thank you Clint. This was also one of the reasons why they switched it from a fighter to a battleship.
Despite all the difficulties, you churned out a great looking build (@milantesar).
Thank you John.
Excellent result on this unique aircraft, Milan @milantesar
You tackled all those challenges well.
Thank you John.
Sounds like it would have got the better of me, well done for persevering and getting such a good result.
Thank you George.
