Revell Nascar Frosted Cheerios Ford Taurus 1/24 scale

November 21, 2023 · in Automotive · · 12 · 291

I built this model some years ago. It was painted with Testors rattlecan and I think the color was Racing Blue. Also, this was my first attempt at using Slixx decals. The actual race car with this paint scheme was used in a couple of races during the 1999 season. Handling the driving duties was Johnny Benson. I'm happy with the way it turned out. Thanks for taking a look.

  1. Awesome job, John! Always a big pleasure to see a wonderfully built Nascar!

  2. Really cool looking Nascar, John @jdtruby
    Nice scheme.

  3. That looks great, John, I fancy building a couple of Nascars but they don’t seem to be available here in China.

    • Thanks George. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one! These model kits are more than likely manufactured in China, yet they're not available for sale in the same country in which they're made. Go figure. I need a drink after that one! Someone pass the bourbon, please.

  4. Really nice job John! It looks great. How did the Slixx decals preform? I've herd good things, but it would be nice to here it from someone with first hand knowledge.

    • For the most part, Slixx decals are a very good product. However, there was one instance where the decal bled or ran ruining the sheet. I was building the Amoco sponsored Cup series car driven by Dave Blaney in the year 2000 for my brother. The decal sheet had silver stripes on them that were used as trim pieces for the race car. Before I cut any decals from the sheet, I coated it with Liquid Decal Film from MicroScale. That's when I noticed that the silver color on the decals ran, ruining the sheet. Now, I brush Future on all my decals no matter who made them. You can use Future on decals before and after applying to the model. I hope this helps you out.

  5. @jdtruby - Nice work John. The decal work turned out really well.

  6. πŸ™‚ ... Greetings ... πŸ™‚ :
Nice model work on that Ford Taurus John.

    • Thanks so much for your comment. If you don't mind me asking, what is your first name so we can get to know each other better? Also, didn't you used to post over at Randy Ayers Nascar Forum? I'm going to request your "friendship" on this site. Hope that's okay.
