Sopwith Pup, Eduard 1:48, flown Arnold Jacques Chadwick, 5 Sqn. RNAS, 11 victories
A few years ago I got two wrecks from a friend which his son hastily put together, a Sopwith Pup and a Sopwith Triplane from old Eduard. Due to the lack of these kits on the market and also because I was sorry to throw them away, I tried to reconstruct them. After disassembly and cleaning, I started building. It was like solving a Rubik's cube. I replaced the crushed rear fuselage and rudder with plastic plates and replaced the rest of the stuff (struts and details) with beaten up copper wire and modified spare parts from my stash. I rejoined and sanded the broken wings. A lot of putty had to be used. Unfortunately, the decals of the serial number did not adhere well to the surface. I think the end result is not that bad and he might like it.
Flight Commander Arnold Jacques Chadwick DSC (23 August 1893 – 28 July 1917) was a Canadian World War I flying ace who claimed 11 aerial victories. He became ace twice; once flying Sopwith Pups and again flying Sopwith Camels.
July 28, 1917, alone attacked a formation of nine German planes. When he lost the battle, he was forced to abandon the plane in the English Channel near the coastal town of De Panne. His drowned corpse was washed ashore near Dunkirk on 17 August 1917
Another winner, Milan. The Pup is such a pleasing design, I’m surprised Eduard hasn't retooled it.
Yes, I wonder too. I waited to see if it would reappear and finally decided to have it reconstructed. This aircraft is a must have in any WWI collection.
Nice work repairing the wrecked aircraft!
It looks very nice.
Sad ending for the pilot, Flight Commander Chadwick.
Thank you Jay.
Fantastic save, Milan!

Great repairs! Looks good.
Thank you Chas.
Amazing work - you did it so well that to look at the photos, one would never think anything bad had happened to the model. Superb result, Milan.
An excellent save, Milan @milantesar
Hard to believe this was a wrecked kit, looks like you did build it from a fresh kit.
Another broken Sopwith Triplane and that's the last time. I'd rather focus on new kits.
🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Beautiful save Milan, it would have been a hard thought to see this model wrecked and gone.
Very nice modeling.
Thank you.
Great rescue, Milan.

Great save, you cannot tell that it was a wreck, a credit to you.
Another broken Sopwith Triplane and that's the last time. I'd rather focus on new kits.
