Tamiya 1/48 Swordfish Mk.II
My choice of Tamiya's best 1/48th ever produced.
PE set was used as a guide to fashion a new wire set. I found that both flat and round profile bracing wires were used in production aircraft.
Slats were cut and extended like seen on parked aircraft.
Perfect in every way. @blackmopane
Thank you John.
We’ll done Rafi. I had a problem with the PE rigging but nothing insurmountable
Thank you George.
Mine disintegrated in my hands when I tried to reduce the gap between the wing units.
Wow! Amazing scale model, Rafi @blackmopane! 🏆
Thank you Gary!
Looks fantastic ,Rafi! A great kit tackled by your excellent skills means an awesome result!
Thank you Spiros!
That's awesome Rafi! (@blackmopane)
Terrific achievement! I love it and at the moment the kit intimidates me ha ha. Are all those rigging struts out of the box parts or did you buy other parts for this?
Thank you Scott.
The PE set makes the rigging a lot easier. To save costs I did my own wire set (based on the PE set) for later Swordfish models like this one.
A very nice Swordfish, Rafi @blackmopane
The weathering, rigging, all came out perfectly.
Still an aircraft which is on my wishlist to build.
Thank you John.
A well worthy build.
Best kit Tamiya made and best Tamiya model you've made, Rafi. Beautiful work and a great result. I totally agree that this is their best kit - I like that you have joined me (as I did on my three) in fixing the leading edge slats right.
Thank you Tom.
Thanks for the reminder.
Excellent build of an important aircraft of WW2. One day I'll get to mine.
Thank you Dan.
Beauty matey, well done. Its funny how many don't realise some rigging is in fact aerofoil or oval section. I didn't until doing some work on an old Tiger moth. Love the texture on the paint as well. Very realistic.
Thank you Chris.
I first realized the intricates of rigging as a kid when my father used to replace stolen radio antennas from his car with Stearman cables.😉
Beautiful representation of the Swordfish, love it.
Thank you Ian.
WOW, that's the best Swordfish model I've seen! The weathering on the white parts is fantastic.
Thank you Ian!
Classic kit, classic build, it could do with a re-release, are you reading this, Mr Tamiya?
Thank you George.
Many Swordfish kits in Ebay at reasonable prices.
Great Stringbag, Rafi. I really need to finally build the Mk. I that’s sat in the stash for a very long time. That said, a decent Mk.II in 1/72 is the missing link in my WW2 ASW collection. C’mon Airfix……
Thank you John.
That really turned out well.
It still amazes me these were flown in WWII. Radar antennae on a biplane - incredible.
Thank you Greg.
I am amazed of how the crew survived the cold in the North Sea in an open cockpit.
A work of art. Truly astounding!
Thank you Brian.
Fantastic build! I'll have to agree, this is Tamiya's best offering in my opinion. A great kit.
Thank you Chas.
That is a truly outstanding build Rafi. I don't have this kit in my stash, but it looks like I may have to get one. If I can build one half as nice as yours, I'd be more than pleased. Awesome job!
Thank you Clint.
The build is complex, but not difficult. After all it is a Tamiya kit.
Pretty build
Makes me want to build mine in the stash! A Taranto bomber!
Steve
Thank you Steve.
A beautiful Stringbag!
Thank you Greg!
🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Beautiful and dignified rendition of the Swordfish Mk.II, Rafi!
Your skills on the rigging gives it a very proper appeal and the
paint work is convincing. Great photos, thanks for sharing them.
Thank you DE!
Beautiful work! I was able to get the MDC kit many moons ago, and followed that up with Tamiya Stringbags as well. I have that MDC and one of the Tamiya kits in the hangar- I need to push and finish them! This is the kind of motivation I need to follow through!
Thanks for sharing your great work- Merry Christmas!
Dan from Bermuda.
Thank you Dan,
Merry Christmas!
Very nice makes me want to build my Taranto raider...
Steve,
It is worth the effort, Steve.
