Chinese PLA 50 Ton Tank Transporter
This is a Trumpeter 1/35 scale kit of the Chinese 50 ton tank transporter.
The kit had some good reviews but it's hardly likely to be a best seller due to being a little known military vehicle.
The design has been heavily influenced by the Japanese Hino and German Daimler Benz vehicles. It consists of a 6 x 6 tractor, powered by a turbo charged diesel engine, and a 12 wheeled trailer.
The cab is hinged to reveal some engine detail, which for some reason is painted orange.
The tractor features a winch assembly.
I made the hoses between the tractor and trailer from lengths of tubing with wire inside so that they can be easily joined, unfortunately I neglected to do that for the photos.
The main part of the loading area on the trailer is wood, so I tried to replicate that with a little weathering.
The only tank I had to hand to show a load was this Russian one.
The kit goes together quite well although, in my opinion, it's a little over engineered with a large number of small parts which need cleaning up.
I was asked to build it by a friend who is organising an exhibition in a shopping mall as part of the Chinese new year celebrations next month. I was advised not to weather it as Chinese vehicles aren't dirty……….
Thanks for looking and happy modelling.

This is an outstanding build. You made me laugh with the comment about these not getting dirty... 😉 Understood. The target...(and I mean the T-55) looks great on the trailer. I just couldn't help it being a former US tanker myself. Take care my friend and stay safe. I'm definitely clicking several of the various "like" buttons on this one. Well done indeed.
Thank you very much for taking the time to look and comment, Louis @lgardner.
Excellent job and a wonderful result, George!
Thank you, Spiros @fiveten.
A stunning result, George @chinesegeorge
I'm sure your friend is going to like this build, and it will definitely get a lot of attention during the exhibition.
I hope you’re right, John @johnb, in this case size matters,

Hi, Neil @neil-foster, thanks for dropping by. Chinese new year is on 10th February this time, it will be the year of the dragon.
Looks like it can drive right off the screen. Pretty clean looking build.
Hi, George @georgeswork, I just put some mud on the tyres and dirtied up the loading deck a bit, thanks for looking.
Great work on the truck, George. @chinesegeorge
Thanks, John @jdtruby, much appreciated.

Thanks, Jay @ssgt, there were certainly a lot of parts.

@chinesegeorge - Fantastic build George. And dirt would never dare stick to such a beautiful vehicle.
