‘Little Stinger’ Bf-109E-7 III./ZG 1, HobbyBoss 80261 in 1/72
I had another 1/72 HobbyBoss Bf-109 kit kicking around and when I came across Decals 7204 from 'Ministry of Small Aircraft Production' I figured that I should practice my mottling painting on this little stinger. I also had decals from the old Hasegawa kit A9 ‘Me-109' and left over stenciling from a Tamiya kit added to the mix.
The mottling pattern was improvised (just like in the real world... I guess), using Vallejo Stencil AIR002 to help get patterns. AK Interactive paint kit AK2090 was used for proper RLM74/75/76 and RLM04 colouring, I had an issue trying to thin the paints down but finally used AK712 thinner as instructed and the paint started to flow properly – funny things happen when you read the instructions. Future coat for the decals with final clear coat being a thinned mix of MicroSatin and MicroFlat from Microscale.
Checking the internet, this aircraft ‘S9+CD' was W.Nr. 6027 and flew III. Gruppe of the Zerstörergeschwader 1, sustaining 20% damage during a failed take-off from Prague-Rusin/Ruzin airfield in 1942.

Thanks for viewing.
Very nice result, George @georgeswork
The mottling did came out beautifully.
Great detailing on this tiny scale Emil, even isolators on the antenna wire, how did you create those.
Thanks John @johnb.
The antenna wire is finely stretched sprue put in place with Revell glue, then I put a dab of thick Cyanoacrylate glue at each end with a toothpick. Painted with thinned acrylics.
Excellent job, George! Love how you tackled the Hobby Boss kit!
Thanks Spiros @fiveten.
It’s a simple yet effective kit, nice detail. Still, had to use a clamp to mate the wing and fuselage properly.
Great looking 109 George.
Thanks Dale @dtravis.
Nicely done George.
Thanks Allan (@kalamazoo)
Cool little stinger, George.
Thank you George (@chinesegeorge)
This Bf-109 turned out very well, George. That is some nice work. @georgeswork
Thank You John (@jdtruby)
Nice looking paint work on this little 109 !
Thanks Jay (@ssgt)
1/72 is as small as I'll go for WWII aircraft
Nice work, George. Impressive mottling in 1/72.
Thank you John(@j-healy)
Well done! Looks like a color version of the photo.
Thanks Chas (@chasbunch).
This is this simpy Hobby Boss brand kit?
Yes it is Lis (@lis), this is it. Not bad for $8 Cdn when I bought it.
Definitely easy assembly, but the finer details are not exact, the pitot tube and engine gaps are a bit exaggerated. But still finishes as a nice quick kit.
