Monogram 1/48 Messerschmitt BF 110G-2 "Zerstörer"

February 16, 2024 · in Aviation · · 28 · 378

's late Zerstörer retains the blunt lines of the fighter/bomber. It has some fit issues, notably the lower joint of fuselage and wings. The model was also criticized for the shape of engine nacelles and small spinners.

I chose to present two Bf-110s. The difference between them is the replacement of engine nacelles and spinners from the Aires engines set on the Wespe aircraft. Although more convincing, I found photographs showing slender spinners on Bf-110s that makes the unconverted model also accepted.

  1. Both are awesome, Rafi!
    Congratulations!

  2. Agreed Rafi (@blackmopane). These look great. I don't have any 110s in my stash and I think I might just get one.

  3. Yep - both beauties! I love the scheme on the 2nd one.

  4. This is one of the best 110's I have seen, Rafi @blackmopane
Besides great paintwork and weathering, it also has lots of details.
For example the crosshair for the reargunner, is that PE.

  5. Nice work on both of those kits. The Bf-110 is one of my favorite planes, and Monogram really did a pretty good job with this kit, even with the undersized nacelles. I have built three of them and while never perfect they were always good, and usually fun. I really like the look of yours in the Wespen markings.

  6. G’day Rafi (@blackmopane),
You have produced two lovely builds.
I have one of these on the backburner (very back) that I must get back to.
I love the subtlety of the mottling and weathering.
    Liked!

  7. Great 110s Rafi. I've always been a fan of the Hornet nose art, it's one of my favorites beautiful work on both.

  8. I think the effort to correct the engine cowlings is a lot of worry for a little result. I say that from having done the night fighter version of this kit with the Cutting Edge resin replacements and then when I compared the finished model with another one that hadn't been modified, the areas of "correction" were not that obvious.

You've done a great job here with these, not to mention you got those Monogram decals to work for the Wespe!

  9. Super builds Rafi. I like your honest account of the nacelle and prop issues of the Monogram kit. Still builds into a great looking 110 Excellent.

  10. Very nice Rafi, 2 great lookin 110's.
I've always favoured the look of the Wespe nose, both model look amazing.

  11. Nice on both, Rafi

  12. Great looking 110s, Rafi, keep them coming.

  13. Great work on that pair of old Monograms! I did a Wespe version of that kit many years ago. it had too many accidents on the shelf and otherwise got abused and when I finally got tired of repairing it I gave it to the kid next door who blew it up with firecrackers.
