Tamiya 1/48 Heinkel He 219A-7
The Uhu is another gem from Tamiya. An accurate depiction of a complex aircraft that is easy to build. A custom made cockpit tub weight is included to balance the very heavy tail. Hence, there are no build distractions that in turn, facilitate the painting phase of the model.
Another superbly built, painted and weathered model, Rafi! And, yes, great Tamiya engineering!
Thank you Spiros!
It really is a great kit, it was one of the first I built when I returned to modeling. It is an impressive kit of an impressive plane. You have built a really nice rendition of it here. Well done.
Thank you Walt.
I’d love to see a few more pictures…it looks great!
This is a kit I have 2 boxes in the stash for sooo long (20 years?!?) and this sort of camo using the late war colours is exactly one I hope to build. Very cool model
Thumbs up Rafi!
Thank you Pedro.
I will add some more on the first opportunity.
@blackmopane
Wow! I am very impressed by these new photos Rafi… that first sole photo was just bait eheheh
For sure the best Uhu paintwork I’ve seen and definitly a good guideline for any future project using this kit. Thanks for updating
Yet another impressive model from you, Rafi, it might well be a good kit but it takes real skill to get it looking as nice as this.
Thank you George!
A wonderful build, Rafi @blackmopane
Cannot wait to see the other pictures uploaded.
Thank you John.
Probably, during the weekend.
The He 219 is a plane with presence, that of a preying mantis about to strike.
Wonderful job in capturing that look. One day will build my Uhus and hope they look half as good.
Thank you David.
The 219 is my favorite German twin-engined aircraft - such an elegant planform. What I can see looks great, but I need more photos so I have some good references for my build! 😉
Thank you Greg.
More photos in the weekend.
Looks great Rafi! This kit is standing by at the edge of my workspace, next in line for assembly. I hope it looks as good as yours on completion!
Thank you David!
One of Tamiya's major home runs. You've done an outstanding job on this 219, Rafi @blackmopane. Keeping all the antennas intact is an accomplishment in itself. More photos please.
Thank you Eric.
The antennas are not glued to the strut. I did it with most of my models with FuGs. If hit, usually by a nearby model in the display area, the antenna just moves or falls down and can be placed back.
Brilliant idea!
Indeed, a great idea.
Tamiya is easy to do because of the solid engineering. Just a small squeeze on the back tip of the antenna.
With Dragon, some reinforcement of the strut housing is required.
Great Uhu build.
Thank you Chas.
G’day Rafi (@blackmopane),
You are a tease. More photos quickly, please!
From this angle the camouflage looks interesting and I want to see the overall effect. It is always instructive to see other’s choices and techniques with compex camouflage schemes.
Thank you Michael.
Rafi, the additional pictures are great.
That is a complex scheme well executed. What are the colours and what was the inspiration?
Thank you Michael.
Upper surfaces are RLM 74, light 76 and 83. Marble effect is the result of the application of RLM 76 over 74 as some aircraft had. RLM 83 was added later. I think that Tamiya had a suggestion of this scheme. I found one photograph of the aircraft that confirmed the order of color application.
There cannot be too many Uhu's here. Very nice build, and excellent camo.
Thank you Jarmo.
