The Post-War Hawker Tempest V

February 14, 2024 · in Aviation · · 11 · 411

The stands as a marvelous example of Aviation design. Renowned for its exceptional speed, agility and firepower, the Napier Sabre engine gave the Tempest V remarkable performance at low and medium altitudes.

This is the scale post-war version with markings for two aircraft stationed in Germany after WW 2. I decided to make the High Speed Silver one and, while there are a few little mistakes due to operator errors, was pleased with the overall results.

    Definitely looking bigger than 1/72!

  2. I love this kit and you did a marvelous job with it, Scott @guitarhack5 ! May i ask what colors you used? The nmf is pristine.

  3. It looks great, Scott, the Typhoon and the Tempest are easily the best looking fighters from WW2 in my opinion, and your model confirms it.

This NMF scheme looks really good.

  5. Quite a nice looking build, Scott.

  6. Looks great! Seems like a nice kit - I may have to pick one up, as I've only built the Academy 1/72 Tempest.

  7. Nicely done Scott (@guitarhack5) 😀
Looks great. The bear metal looking effect is superb!

    • Scott, they weren't actually bare metal, they were done in "High Speed Silver",I believe it was a
50/50 mix of Aluminium paint and a gloss lacquer varnish.
Apparently Citadel's "Mithril Silver" and Kleer floor polish mixed 50/50 gives very good results.
