Airfix 1/48 De Havilland Chipmunk T.10

March 24, 2024 · in Aviation · · 24 · 155

A bit of a personal one this.
A nice if fiddly in places kit from dressed up as the Chippie I got a couple of flights in during a Summer Camp at Leeming, many, many years ago.

Primed with Mr. Finishing Surfacer 1500 Black.
Painted with.
Nato Black, Rubber Black, Flat Off-White mix with Buff, Clear Green, Clear Red, Lacquer Semi-Gloss Black and Lacquer Italian Red.
Colourcoats Light aircraft Grey
Xtreme Metals Aluminium.
Wheels washed with Citadel Nuln Oil
Finished with AK 3rd Gen Matt Varvish which gives a nice satin finish.

Thanks for looking,

  1. Well done Alistair

  2. I really like that RAF red white and grey trainer scheme. Always nice to add a personal touch to the model.

  3. Beautiful build, Alistair @alistairfgauld! These new Airfix kits are just awesome.

  4. Great looking Chipmunk, Alistair, I, too, had an early “air experience” flight in a Chipmunk, although, if memory serves me right, it was in the yellow trainer livery.

  5. Fantastic job, Alistair! Love the scheme, which you replicated perfectly!

  6. A nice little Chipmunk, Alistair @alistairfgauld

  7. A very nicely built model.

  8. Nice one Alistair, another one off the production line.

  9. A very attractive looking little plane you got there, Alistair.
    Awesome build!

  10. That scheme really pops on the diminutive Chipmunk!

  11. Very nice, love that scheme.

  12. Another winner, Alistair (@alistairfgauld). I was an instructor pilot for a lot of years in the Air Force, so I have a soft spot for trainers, especially ones with cool paint schemes. Well done.
