Academy 1/48 P-40N Warhawk (ex Mauve)

June 11, 2024 · in Aviation · · 11 · 304

Improved with the PE set for this kit, Master metal cannons, and a Cutting Edge resin reflector sight (OOP), and scratchbuilt details on the cockpit. I used an old Super Scale decal sheet following most of its painting guide. This aircraft migh have had different national insignias at the beginning of its combat career and there are pictures showing a darker blue on the spinner while wearing the 00, she also wore the 10 at some point in time.

Is that a full scratch side wall of the cockpit?

    • Hello, both sides of the cockpit walls were scratch built with some PE elements from the Eduard set.

Great job on the painting and weathering

  5. Really, REALLY fine build & finish (close-up photos reflect master-level skills).

  6. Excellent work, Ruben!

  7. Very nice result with this. The scratch work with the cockpit is excellent.

One thing they don't tell you is that the prop blades are about 3/16 inch too long, with the result that the tip overlaps the inboard gun. If that's the case with yours, the solution is simple - pip the blades and cut them, then glue them back in.

  8. Very nice Warhawk.

  9. Well done, Ruben!
