Pocher Ducati Panigale 1299 R Final Edition 1/4 scale

June 16, 2024 · in Uncategorized · · 39 · 419

Here is a bit of history on the Panigale, taken from totalmotorcycle.com
With the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition, Ducati pays tribute to the twin-cylinder engine that has made Superbike World Championship history. From Marco Lucchinelli's first victory on 3rd April 1988 with the 851 (in the first-ever world championship for modified production models) to the stunning 2017 wins by Chaz Davies and Marco Melandri on the Panigale R, the Bologna-built twin-cylinder has long been a winner in SBK. Desmoquattro, Testastretta, Superquadro: over three decades, the Ducati-designed twin- cylinder 4-valve engine with Desmodromic timing has gone from strength to strength, powering bikes that have made Supersport history. Motorcycles that have won no less than 330 World Superbike Championship races. From the 851 to the Panigale R – and the 888, 916, 996, 998, 999, 1098, 1198 and 1199 in between them – the Bologna-built twin has always been as successful on the track as it has on the supersport market. Now, the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition pays homage to the great Ducati superbike tradition by combining best-ever twin-cylinder engine performance with a racing-derived chassis set-up.
Available as a numbered (but not limited) series, the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition is a Euro 4 compliant road bike with a perfect mix of ultra-high engine performance and spot-on racing suspension. An offshoot of the 1299 Superleggera engine, the “Final Edition” Superquadro packs a 209 hp* punch at 11,000 rpm and a torque of 14.5 kgm at 9,000 rpm The chassis set-up, instead, is the same as that on the Panigale R, with Öhlins mechanical suspension and a 24° rake.
As for electronics, the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition features the Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and ABS Cornering, Ducati Wheelie Control EVO (DWC EVO), Ducati Traction Control EVO (DTC EVO) and Engine Brake Control (EBC). All these systems are set according to the selected Riding Mode (Race, Sport and Wet) and can be personalized as desired.
In addition to top-drawer tech content, the all-new red, white and green colour scheme with red wheels makes the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition a unique collector's item.

I bought this on a whim, it was ridiculously expensive, but I figured it was my one shot at owning such a kit.

I purchased aftermarket hardware, decals and a downloaded DVD of tips and instructions off eBay from Paul Koo, (Pocherphile pjekoo on ebay). Without his parts, knowledge and constant emails back and forth this kit would have not been anything special.

It is without a doubt the most expensive and largest kit I ever built. It is prepainted and a mix of metal and plastic parts. I did paint some parts mostly black and some silver parts. Anything that should have been rubber is painted with Tamiya Rubber Black spray can TS-82.

Completed dimensions are 20.5" long x 11" high x 8" wide, and weighs 11 lbs (519 mm x 278 mm x 203 mm, 5 kg)

I added a lot of additional wiring and some lines that were not part of the kit. Again thanks to Paul Koo. You can see more of the build here https://imodeler.com/groups/motorcycles-854753595/forum/topic/pocher-1-4-ducati-panigale-1299-r-final-edition/?topic_page=1&num=15

Here are some of the basic build photos.

I'm most proud of the Throttle body assemblies

And I rebuilt the stock air filter

The fuel tank once in place would have hidden the scratch built filter and the throttle bodies so I hinged it so it seen

Once again all these modifications Could not have been done without the help of Paul Koo.

The bike with out the cowlings on it

And finally the bike with all the fairing in place

file under “uncategorized” because there isn't a slot for motorcycles , yet 🙂

  2. Awesome and then some, once again Cricket. @bikequeen.

  3. You sure you can't ride that thing around your yard? 🙂

    What a WOW! model.

  4. @bikequeen - Amazing work Cricket. A truly stunning build. All of the extra detail paid off. I hope you have a large display case for this baby! It needs it's own space with lights so everyone can see it without trying to touch it.

  5. Seriously cool Cricket. Looks like it would start right up and rocket down the freeway. Thanks for sharing this great work.

I assume your parking it in the garage 😉

  6. If I didn't read your post, I'd swear I was looking the ACTUAL Bike!

  10. If I did not know this was a kit, I would have believed that it was a brand new motorcycle on display. Very well done Cricket, @bikequeen.

  11. Well done Cricket, what a beast !

  12. @bikequeen I’ll add my voice to the chorus of praise. Absolutely beautiful work. I can almost hear that sweet Ducati growl.

  13. Congratulations Cricket, once again you have produced a beautifully made model. your eye for detail is exceptional as is your skill in executing it .

  15. I can only agree with all the above compliments, Cricket @bikequeen
A wonderful build and all those extras you did are well worth it.
It was a real pleasure to follow your build thread.
    Two thumbs up.

    • Than k you John, it was fun, just about when I thought i would stop i couldn’t…i had to add the extras…I didn’t go all out like the other guy did but I did tear a few pages out of his play book 🙂

  16. Your results on this kit are spectacular, Cricket (@bikequeen). I know this model fought you the whole way, but your results are museum-worthy. You truly are the "bike queen". Well done.

    • Thanks George, it really didn't fight me its just that is was so massive and heavy it was hard to work on especially on my 2 foot kits he table 🙂

  17. Unbelievable how real this looks Cricket! Outstanding job! Without seeing the base, a person would be hard pressed to tell this from the real thing. Your metal finishes are spot on, and your scratch built details only add to the realism. Top notch.👍

    • Thank you Clint most of the kit was pre-painted. I just painted some of the small parts and mostly semi black, rubber black and silver….I appreciate your comments it was a fun build

  18. I take my hat off to you!

    That's stunning!

It's easy to see, why people first thought it was real. No doubt, this will take pride of place in your display cabinet?

I have several "To Build" kits, that I've been gathering parts for, over the years. If I was to add up the amount of money, that some of the bits, plus the original kit, have cost me, I'd probably faint? But, we do it because we love it, and you end up with a unique model.

That's exactly what I'm looking at here.

    An extremely unique model 😍

    • Thank Boaz! I was a fun build a bit large to work with but went together fairly well, lots of tapping screw holes and some stripped but i learned to love gel CA glue 🙂

  19. Woah. That really turned out! Hard to tell it is 1/4 scale.

  20. Wow absolutely amazing build. This is such a dream kit - you did it so well. Looks so so real.

    • Thank you Anthony it was indeed a dream kit and I will never see another :). Now to get back to more manageable kits like 1/12th 😉
