Coastal Command Crusader: 1/48th Tamiya Beaufighter

July 6, 2024 · in Aviation · · 7 · 196

released their 1/48th scale duo starting in 1997 with the Mk.VI and added the TF.X later. This offering was pretty much The go-to kit in 1/48th scale, for a couple of decades, until Revell's release in 2018 offered a competitive option. The fit and detail are quite good so model makers of any skill level can get a nice display aircraft from the box.

I purchased another excellent decal set from Aviaeology, "RCAF Beaufighters Canadians in Coastal Command#1" for this RCAF 404 Squadron build project. This aircraft of mine is currently on display at The Juno Beach Centre in France as part of the 80th Anniversary tribute.

You can see more in-depth detail of this build with additional photos at: https://www.flypastrush.com/post/coastal-command-crusader-1-48th-tamiya-beaufighter-mk-vi

Thanks for looking & good luck on your next build.

  5. Well done. How big a crew do you have to keep that big hangar so clean?

    • Chas, Its a small but very dedicated crew (and all volunteer at that). They mainly work for free beer and the occasional celebratory dinner out 😉 The engineers get a lot of the credit for making sure the engines don't leak anything on the floor 🙂 - Cheers
