Noorduyn Norseman

August 14, 2024 · in Aviation · · 13 · 245

Here's my 1:48 UC-64A Noorduyn I picked up cheap at a contest a few years back. The main complaint about this kit is the exaggerated rib/fabric detail. It had the “starved cow” look. I sanded the ribs down until it looked more reasonable. I spent some time on the instrument panel, added seat belts, a resin R-1340 engine, and wired it up. I finished it as a USAAF UC-64A of the 320th Transport Squadron based in the UK in July 1944. Model Master paint and kit decals. A fun build.

  1. Nice work, Chas.

  2. Really nice, Chas (@chasbunch). The instrument panel really looks great, and the checkerboard on the cowling is perfect. Well done, all around.

  3. Good job fattening up that calf. Great looking work.

  4. Great build Chas! The Norseman just exudes ruggedness.

  5. That is a great looking bird. Unique and well built. Thanks for sharing.

  7. Really nice result, Chas @chasbunch
All the extra work definitely paid off.

  8. Excellent result, the model captures the look of the Norseman quite well, and I really like the paint work too

  9. Beautiful Work, Chas. This is one of my favorite unarmed WWII aircraft. You've really made that kit look great. I hope you don't mind, but I'll use your instrument panel photo to make a decal for my panel. Congratulations!

  10. That looks great Chas. This is an airplane I'm not that familiar with. I really like it, very cool looking observation plane. I ma in the process of building an foam R/C plane from scratch of my own design and to my surprise it looks alot like this Norsemen. I must have seen one long ago and it stuck in the back of my head. Beautiful job on your build their.

  11. You built that one up quite nicely Chas - Cheers

  12. That looks great - love that cowl, a different take on "checkerboard."

  13. Well done. I built one out of the box when they first came out
