The Clunk: 1/48th Hobbycraft CF-100 Mk.IV Canuck

March 2, 2025 · in Aviation · · 8 · 205

Hobbycraft introduced their 1/48th CF-100 Mk.V in 1989 followed by their 1/48th CF-100 Mk.IV in 1990. Hobbycraft specialty was releasing Canadian aircraft types that no other manufacturer would produce in an injection mold kit. While the kit was somewhat lacking in details and features, it got us model makers a Canuck as a jump off point (if nothing else).

As I like an aircraft with a story, I selected a rather unique RCAF 440 Squadron aircraft to depict. It was flown by possibly the only crew having the distinction of ejecting from a fighter aircraft on more than one occasion!

You can read more in-depth detail of this odd story at: https://www.flypastrush.com/post/1-48th-hobbycraft-cf-100-mk-iv-canuck

Thanks for looking & good luck on your next build.

  4. Awesome result out of the somewhat simplified Hobbycraft kit! Will definitely have an in depth look at your website's full build article, to use it as a guide in revisiting my same model!

  5. Another cool bird I’ve never heard of. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Always a treat to see a HC CF-100 built, and done so well! Looks awesome.
I tried sitting in the CF-100 on display in Hamilton, I barely fit 😮.
