‘Best in Show’ – iModeler April Awards 2018 (Thanks!!)

June 17, 2018 · in Uncategorized · · 44 · 1.7K

I just want to give my thanks to the jury that voted my burnt-out Cab to be ‘Best in Show’, for the April Awards. Like I stated earlier, I was completely unaware of this prestigious moment. I was sent a p.m., congratulating me on my win. I was confused and decided to check out the imodeler website. Of course, I then became aware. This totally caught me of guard, especially seeing all the other choices. I am humbled and ecstatic, at the same time. Thank you guys for voting my model for your April award. Although, I thought, many deserved this prestigious award, I am grateful and uplifted. My thanks.

Below are a few photos of the prize I received from Martin(Admin). I am a happy camper. Yes, are you surprise, it is truck? 🙂 HaHa! Well, you’ll know what I’m gonna do with this eh? Another torn down truck, but still drive-able. I must say, this is a hard to find model, so I am very happy Martin found it for me. Thank you once again. BTW, the box is huge. Bigger than the normal Italeri truck box. You can see the size comparison with the coke bottle next to it.

  1. Well deserved Charles, I look forward to seeing your end result

    • Thank you Tom. I look forward to starting the Scania 141. I already have an idea of how I want it to be. I just have to finish my present truck build.

  2. Congrats again Charles. I'm sure you will do this new kit the "old" justice.

  3. You deserve the award and recognition, for some of the finest modeling I have ever seen; your burnt-out truck is absolutely superb. Congratulations!

  4. Yep...what they said - good for you, Charles.

  5. No one and I mean no one can build those trucks like you do, Charles. I have been following you for years and you are well deserved for one of those awards. Can't wait to see what you do with this one!

  6. Yeah, good to see you got this model Charles! It means we'll discover one of your marvels soon again! Kudos!

  7. A well deserved award Charles. My first impression was this is a modeling statement...burned out on modeling or a homage to Spielberg's movie "Duel" or better yet another vehicle fire. Not constrained by history or pop culture just a reality of what happens to vehicles with diesel engines...stuff happens. You see it along the road enough that these things happen. A reality that is apart of life.

Two thumbs for thinking out side of the box and creating the illusion that goes beyond the craft of making plastic models.

  8. Can't wait to see the build!

  9. Congrats Charles, not only an incredible truck but the passion and thought that went into it as well. So much so that inspiration got me to look over an old AMT GMC cab over kit I have, one that I built as a child. I did build several, even the cool Ertle kits that appeared in the 70's. All 1/25th scale. But now with skills I didn't have and knowledge of how a well used rig appears these days, not brand new off the lot. Can't wait to see your next project. Happy Fathers Day!

  10. Way to go, Charles. Congrats!

  11. Congrats Charles. It was a really nice model, unique and very interesting!

  12. Doing what you did to that truck, and making it looks as freakin' REAL as you did is HARD! No way you didn't deserve that award.

  13. Congratulation! 🙂

  14. Congratulations! So, you got two weeks to go for the Scania to get ready for Grevens Glue Galore. I have high expectations 🙂

    • Haha Stellan. Sorry. But I'd have to disappoint this time round. I am still working on a present project that I am trying to finish before GGG. But I doubt it, I will have it completed by then.
But as soon as I am done with the current project, I will be on this one, like white on rice.

  15. Wonderful. Have fun building it!

  16. This is a well deserved award. Your builds are nothing less than fantastic. I especially like how you capture the looks of the urban environment. It's all of the little things you add into your work that sets it apart.
I am a retired firefighter and believe me, I have seen more than my share of burned out vehicles. Yours definitely looks the part and is very convincing. It's hard to get it just right, but you always do.

Well deserved my friend. I'm looking forward to seeing your next installment with this one.

  17. Thank you kindly Louis. I do appreciate your fine sentiments.

  18. Charles, I can't add much to the previous glowing comments. But I can say they are A) correct, and B) congratulations on a really well-deserved award! That burnt-out vehicle was chillingly real. Absolutely gorgeous. Hope you had a great Father's Day.
