1/48 AMT P-40F Battle of Kasserine Pass Group Build
My final submission for this fun GB started by David Thomas. Really thought I was finished with this GB until I pulled this kit off the shelf. Why not enter one more just for fun, besides it's another P-40 for my collection. Built pretty much OOB, however I did add an aftermarket seat and wheels. Also used the exhause stacks from a Hasegawa P-40 kit because their detail is better than the kits supplied stacks. I also modified the air filter intakes as the kit's moldings are incorrect. Simply sanded off the two intakes, added some brass micro-mesh then attached a single intake using tubing. Works for me.
Paints used were a combination of Model Master enamels, acrylics and Tamiya acrylics. Antenna is nylon thread and pastel chalks were used for the exhause stains. The old AMT P-40 series of kits will build into some very nice models with some simple modeling skills. And you can often find them at inexpensive prices at modeling shows. This particular A/C represents one flown by Lt Richard W. Lander with the 315th FS, 324th FG in North Africa in 1943. Fun and quick build, though not a show winner, it looks good on the shelf with my other P-40s.
Nice lookin' presentation, Tom...good work. I like it.

Just love a P-40! You did a great job on this model. i also like the base you displayed it on. Nice camo job and attention to details.
Nice! I am not a fan of that kit, but you have done good work here with it.
You did another fantastic job here Tom. The P-40 has always been one of my favorites, and yours always look great. This one is no exception. The display base really sets it off...
Well done my friend.
That's a handsome Warhawk Tom! Great work.
Love it. P-40s are such a quintessential warbird, and you did a great job on this one.
Tom, you know already how much of a fan I am of your builds and especially the recent KP contributions - you hit rhythm here that has resulted in some stunners. I can understand how you had fun with this - it has turned out fantastically well!
