Me109-E4
My first completed model in 30 years, it's not 100% accurate and I've yet to add the aerial but I'm happy with how it turned out.
Airfix 1:48 club Me109 kit with Eduard PE and after market decals, airbrushed with Humbrol enamels.
[Edit: Changed title to reflect correct aircraft version.]
You say you haven't completed a model in 30 years..?! And you present THIS as your first example..?! Are you a veterinarian and count in dog-years? I could've done one 30 DAYS ago, and not have it come out as good.
Thanks Craig.
I used to be a prolific moleler in my teens, even to the extent of scratch building, so I guess the skills I learnt then have stayed with me over the years.
Yes, it is a beautiful start to a (hopefully) burgeoning new modeling career. Additionally, it is an Airfix kit which is symbolic in such context. Well done!
Thank you, It was an add on the internet for the Airfix Club that got me back into the hobby, and without the internet and all the references available I don't think it would have come out as good as it has.
I think you've just proven that it's not only bicycles that you never fall off of once you learn how.
I build all the time and I'd be very happy to have this on my shelf.
BTW - it's a Bf-109E-4. A very very minor correction, the two sub-types are indistinguishable past the canopies.
Hi Tom,
Yes - as I progressed through the build I could feel and see all the old skills reappearing, except for the airbrushing, that's a brand new skill as I could never afford one when I was a teenager.
Thanks for the correction, I'll edit my post to reflect the correct model. 🙂
